MIPCOM - CANNES REVISITED

.........the advanture begins for Anas.....

...Opah and Nizam shopping for Ilham.....

It has been more than a year since the last time Atuk attended MIPCOM in Cannes. However, our visit this year are more meaningful as we have a ready product to market as compared to the previous year. Right from the time when we boarded MAS flight, we were so proud to see Upin & Ipin being offered in the in-flight movie service. Yes, Upin and Ipin are currently on-show on all MAS flights oversea, and we are the first Malaysian cartoons ever fly with MAS. Last 2 days Atuk received another request from MAS for the recent episodes. May all the other local companies follow our footsteps and proud of our product.

This year MIPCOM was not so busy as the previous years event, probably because of the economic crisis that we are facing now. The crowds started to thin down even on the 2nd day and by the fourth day most of the participants had already flew home although the event close on Friday. Atuk, Opah, Nizam and Anas left Cannes yesterday for Paris as we want to do some sightseeing and gathering materials for the next episodes of Upin and Ipin. Who knows, may be in the next episode will show Upin and Ipin visiting Paris.

Our film "Geng" was well received and we have a lot of positive enquiries. A company from Chile has agreed to collaborate with us to release the film in Latin America in Spanish version. He will be coming to Malaysia in March 2009 to finalise the deal. A TV station from Indonesia comparable to TV9 , recently broadcasting Upin & Ipin in Indonesia, has agreed to work with us in releasing the film in Indonesia. The CEO who is a lady, was a great fan to Opah, unfortunately she did not have the chance to meet Opah as she was preparing lunch at our apartment. We plan to finalise the deal in Jakarta towards the end of the year and Upin & Ipin fan club will be established in Indonesia in collaboration with the TV station.
Disney Channel, Nickoleddeon, Media Corp Singapore, and others are all interested with "Geng" and they are requesting the full screener for their boses to make decission. They are also a company which is part of Sahara Group from India interested to make it into Hindi for release in India. Of course there are others from Bosnia, USA, Germany, Russia offering for DVD rights which we have to consider.
I believe we have accomplished our target of producing something of international appeal. The fact that we have positive enquiries augur well with our team efforts and hope we will be able to be more crative in future and make Malaysia proud out of it.
He..he.. the others will give more updates on their experience in Cannes. Atuk nak gi tengok orang French ni...hi..hi..
