"His business manners are very good." Wu said. The two companies first met during the MIPTV audio-visual content trade show in Cannes last month. "Animation is a blend of art, commerce and technology. It is going to be a huge industry. Once you make a hit, it will become an international brand." He belives the 36 Stratagems movie will become an international hit.
Les' Copaque, which was established one-and-a-half years ago, is based in Shah Alam. It will release Malaysia's first feature length 3D animated movie next year, titled Geng, which cost about RM4 million. The company has 20 animators.
Burhanuddin who is majority shareholder of Les' Copaque, said he is happy that ZhongNan and Les' Copaque had agreed to set-up the joint venture company. "We are going to make something special," he said.
Burhanuddin was formerly a managing director and major shareholder of Dayang group, which is involved in the oil and gas industry. He is selling his entire interest in Dayang group to Sarawak-based Naim Cendera Holdings Bhd.
Last month Naim announced it was acquiring a 45% stake in the Dayang Enterprise Sdn. Bhd, DESB Marine Dervices Sdn. Bhd and Fortune Triumph Sdn. Bhd(FTSB), for a total of RM 87.75 million cash. Burhanuddin has a 20% stake each in DESB and DESB Marine, and a 16% stake in FTSB.
